| The Effects of the Credit Crunch |
Credit crunch happens when the availability of loans from financial institutions considerably lessens or when banking companies raise interest rates so that individuals will be less attracted to getting loans. This poses quite an opposing picture when compared to the way financial companies were lending easy loans to qualified members years before. In recent times however, the so-called credit crunch has become a way for banks to control the bad debts that have piled up over the last years due to poor collections, decreased vale of collateral, and even rising interest rates from the central bank. In other words, this situation happens when banks have lesser confidence in the debtors’ willingness and ability to pay up. How does this affect bank clients and potential debtors then? If you are one of the many people who rely heavily on loans and credit for financing, then the credit crunch will make it less easy for you to get a loan, or at least to get it approved in a workable arrangement. Most banks would raise loan interest rates, provide more rigid requirements when it comes to loan and collateral eligibilities, or release only a predetermined amount for lending. Simply put, it will be more difficult getting a decent financing scheme, or at least one that affords more convenience on the part of the clients. Unfortunately, the credit crunch is often viewed to be affecting the lending business on a global scale. Debt Resources |
